Pictures

Hi all, I just wanted to let you know the pictures from San Diego and Hawaii have now been opened in our Shutterfly site! Check them out when you have a few mins. The link is on the right side of this page. I haven't had a chance to post about our trip to Hawaii but it really was wonderful. I can't wait to go back again, even with the long flight. Hopefully I will have a few minutes this week to finally post some further details about the trip but I spent some time labeling the pictures for you all so hopefully that will help when looking at them.

I will be back this week with more!

San Diego

Well we left our house bright and early - no wait it was still dark, lol - at 4:30 am that Sunday morning. UGH. We packed the car, grabbed some much needed coffee and started our 1 - 2 hr drive to the airport. Before crossing the Bay Bridge we almost hit a deer - joy - and by the time we made it to the airport we were wondering if we had cut things too close for our 7 am departure.

The flights were thankfully pretty smooth (I didn't leave any permanent marks on Tim this time, lol) and we landed in San Diego around noon. We were both pretty tired out and starving, lol. By the time we got the car, found food and the hotel we just crashed. I don't really remember doing too much that day but laughing because we had just traveled like 1500 miles or something and all we did was lay in our hotel room waiting and wondering if it was too early for us to go to sleep, lol.

Monday we woke bright and early (still on east coast time, lol) and waited for everything else to open. We stopped for breakfast, I did some things for work that morning and we headed on our way. Now, when thinking we were going to have most of the afternoon in San Diego we really wanted to head to Disneyland! Hello, I am ALL for seeing Mickey. Due the the time of year though and not knowing how much money we needed in Hawaii we decided to pass on the adventure this time. Instead Tim planned a much more exciting sightseeing tour for us - NOT, lol.

Those of you who know my hubby pretty well won't be too surprised by this. Tim's grand adventure took us to tour the USS Midway Aircraft Carrier. Yay! Can you sense my excitement? Apparently Tim missed my cartwheels as well, lol. Ok, ok, it wasn't that bad. Some of it was kind of cool to see but after about 3 hours of this self guided audio tour that had me feeling almost claustrophobic and lost I had had enough, lol. 3 hours though. I think I was a good sport for lasting that long, lol.

So, still confused about all of this. Let me give you a little background info. The USS Midway is a really big boat an aircraft carrier first commissioned shortly after World War II. We were able to tour the ship's bridge, flight deck, hangar deck, mess deck, primary flight control, Tactical Flag Command Center, enlisted and junior officer quarters, the captain's and admiral's quarters, sickbay, brig, radio room, and one of the ship's four engine rooms. Can you tell while I was jumping for joy, ha? Just kidding again. I just like to tease Tim about some of the places he takes me. In all honesty it was pretty neat to see the different areas. I was shocked at some of the things we saw, especially the enlisted quarters. As Tim explained it when he saw where they slept/lived - "I won't ever complain about living in tents with the Army again", lol!

It made me chuckle to hear him say that. The other thing we saw was the air traffic control tower on these things. Talk about a lack of space! I suggest Kenny stay on land, lol.

Be sure to check Shutterfly for all of the pictures we took in San Diego!

We're back!

Just a quick post to let you know that we are back from our trip. I am now in NC but trying to find some time to upload/label our pictures. I won't get into too much detail right now but I will say we had such a great trip. It was long and I still had so much work to do but thankfully we had some time each night to venture out, as well as most of the day Friday. I must say that Hawaii was completely beautiful and as much as I dreaded the trip, just having those few hours to venture out and see things made it worth it. Tim and I managed to pack in as much as we possibly could while we were there. I lacked quite a bit of sleep last week but that is ok. I just have to finish out this week and can crash this weekend, lol.

I am hoping to have the photos all posted to Shutterfly in the next few days along with some posts about our trip to San Diego, as well as Hawaii!

Long Overdue

I know it has been forever since my last post. Tim just told me it has been almost a month and I didn't believe him. Then I looked at today's date and the date of the last post. October 15th. Where the heck has the time gone? What can I say though, life has been busy and time consuming I guess. I am trying to think of everything that has been going on but I guess there is just too much to catch up on.

Last weekend we headed up to NY for Halloween. While we were there I got to see some of my relatives on my Dad's side that I hadn't seen in FOREVER. (Hi Kim, I finally blogged again, lol). It was nice to spend some time with them before they headed back to Arkansas. The rest of the weekend was spent splitting wood at my grandparents house and the normal Halloween festivities with the family. Look at this cutie! He was my favorite part of Halloween for sure!

Other than that, this week has seemed like a blur. Work has been so busy for both Tim and I this week. Today we spent most of the day packing as we are getting ready to head out tomorrow morning (about 4am) for our flight to San Diego. Tim is tagging along this week while work takes me to San Diego til Tuesday and then over to Honolulu until Saturday. Tim is very excited about these adventures. Me - not so much, lol. I guess its because one I hate to fly and two I will be working while he lays on the beach drinking fruity drinks and gets a tan. So not my idea of the perfect week, lol. It will be nice to see Hawaii though. We will be home very late Sat night and should arrive back at the house around 2 am on Sunday morning. I then head out again on Monday morning for NC until the following Friday night so things will once again be jammed packed these next 2 weeks.

Thankfully I will arrive home in just enough time to get things ready for our Thanksgiving guests this year. My Mom, Stepfather, Stepbrother, Sister, Brother-in-law and nephew will all be here. Sadly my brother won't be able to make it but I am sure he is secretly a little relived about that, lol. He just spent a weekend with us. I am sure that will hold him off for a while now, lol.
